How to care for your
Dekton® surface (sintered ceramic)
Dekton
Dekton is a sophisticated blend of the raw materials used to produce the very latest in glass and porcelain as well as the highest quality quartz work surfaces. Dekton employs exclusive Sinterized Particle Technology, a high tech process which represents an accelerated version of the metamorphic change that natural stone undergoes when subjected to high temperatures and pressure over thousands of years.
Due to the low porosity and the ultra-compact nature of Dekton, it provides a highly stain-resistant worktop surface with excellent performance in resistance to staining, scratching & heat. Dekton is not affected by ultraviolet light, for this reason it is suitable for outdoor use.
Daily/Regular maintenance of Dekton
Most normal household cleaners can leave a greasy, smeary like layer on the surface of Dekton. Sometimes ring marks from glasses can be seen on this greasy, smeary like layer. On every installation, we provide a specialist Miller Brothers daily cleaner.
This cleaner is an outstanding ready-to-use product for the daily maintenance of Dekton work surfaces.
It effortlessly removes light dirt and grease and maintains the natural appearance of the surface. It has a pleasant, fresh fragrance and its vapours are non-hazardous. For best results use a microfiber cloth to clean the surface.
Stubborn Stains
In the event of any stubborn marks, apply a small amount of Bar Keepers Friend cream to a damp cloth. Rub gently on the stain, rinse, wipe and dry. This should lift the stain. Repeat the process until the stain is removed.
Chipped Edges
Whilst Dekton is an extremely resistant surface, knocks should be avoided in areas that are more exposed like corners, edges, and bevels. Impact knocks on the edge of Dekton counters can cause chips. It is important to note that chips caused by impact knocks on vulnerable areas of a countertop are not as a result of a weakness or flaw in the material. All types of stone will chip if an impact knock or bang occurs on a vulnerable area.
Dekton’s Performance in Contact with Hot Objects
Frying pans, saucepans and casserole dishes can be placed directly on the work surface after coming off a hob or oven. Dekton is designed to withstand utensil temperatures resulting from typical domestic use. Please note that for Dekton 8mm, it is necessary to use protection for hot objects.
General Tips on Dekton Maintenance
Avoid worktop exposure to very high temperatures and direct sources of heat such as fireplaces, chimneys, barbeques etc.
It is very important to avoid direct contact between your worktop and a naked flame.
Never use a metal scouring pads to clean the surface of Dekton.
